3 of The Best Upper Body Exercises

The vast majority of the people that go to the gym regularly are going to work out the upper body more than any other part of the body. This is especially true whenever it is men that we are talking about, as it is a strong chest and large arms that are generally what are sought after whenever they are going through all of this work. As a result of this, many of them are looking for the best upper body exercises that are available, some of which may surprise you. Here are our 3 favorites that we do on a regular basis and we have seen some great success with both ourselves and our clients.

The first type of exercise that you can do for the upper body is a multi-joint exercises going to work various areas of it. For example, the bench press, which most people consider to be a chest exercise is actually going to work the arms rather effectively as well. If you keep the abdominal region engaged during the time that you are doing to bench press, you’re also going to get an effective ab workout at the same time. Because the bench press is one of the most popular types of upper body exercises that is done at the gym, understanding that you are actually getting more out of it than just working the chest can really keep you motivated.

Arm workouts can also be rather effective, but you should skip the bicep workouts in favor of doing a tricep workout. I’m not telling you to ignore the biceps altogether, but I am telling you that the triceps are going to make your arms larger as a whole. Fortunately, you can work the triceps in a number of different ways whenever you’re at the gym or you can also incorporate them into other exercises as multi-joint exercises. Our personal favorite tricep exercise is the tricep pull down, which can be changed by utilizing different attachments on the pulldown machine.

Finally, you want to make sure that you’re also doing a leg workout whenever you’re working your upper body. The reason why this is the case is because the legs contain larger muscles of the upper body, so whenever you work them, they are going to signal the body that it is time to grow additional muscle. The fortunate thing for you is, it is not only grows it in the leg region but also grows it in the upper body as well. Make sure that you are doing effective leg exercises, such as the squat and dead lift and you will see massive difference is in your upper body muscles as well.
